At least 5,000 fans were treated to a free viewing of the NBA Phoenix Suns’ intrasquad scrimmage Saturday at NAU’s Walkup Skydome. The playing floor was placed over Terracover V, the premier surface for protecting synthetic grass athletic fields.
NAU purchased 50,000 sq ft of Terracover V from Terraplas USA in 2013 to be used as a turf protection cover for their synthetic football field. The Suns scrimmage was a perfect use of the Terracover V as it formed the base for the temporary stands and the wooden playing floor. The University will also use the same setup for basketball games that are played in the Walkup Skydome in late November or early December if the dates overlap with the football teams drive to be in the FCS playoffs.
NAU also uses the Terracover V for mid-year graduation ceremonies as well when the football field is still in place.
